XY

Inspired by ancient cave paintings and the enduring knowledge left behind by our ancestors, this 18 x 24 piece reflects on early human expression and discovery. As the work developed, it became an exploration of early gender dynamics, interpreted through symbolic references to X and Y chromosomes. Expansive movements and fields of color suggest masculine energy, while unified, resilient forms evoke feminine strength and boundary. A palette of blues and purples softens the feminine presence, contrasted by reds and soft pinks representing the masculine. The layered textures invite close observation and quiet reflection on the story embedded within the surface.
